History
The Anna and James St. Clair McCall House was built in 1907 by the Harry E. Yessler Firm and is
believed to be the first Craftsman style house in the area. James St. Clair, its first resident, was the
youngest mayor in York´s history.
The house is a well preserved, restored historical jewel featuring intricate oak floors and period wall
coverings. A magnificent Tiffany peacock mosaic graces the space over the mantle in the main room. The manor
is home to other period artwork including stained glass by Tiffany and Rudy Art Glass Studio, local glass works
established in late 19th Century.
The Carriage House in the rear is believed to be a retirement project of John A. Dempwolf,
renown turn-of-the-century architect, whose firm designed Central Market House and many other Victorian and
Edwardian southern Pennsylvania and Maryland structures.
